Plain English Programming: Definitions

What's more annoying than looking for an easy-to-understand answer and instead getting a dissertation?  There's got to be something, and if you can think of whatever that something is, feel free to leave a comment below. :)

Quick example:
If you haven't read somewhere that HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language, perhaps you've been in a cave for the past several years (in which case, "Welcome! Glad you could join us."). However if you're anything like most of us, that whole Hyped-up Text Marks phrase explains just about absolutely NOTHING. This section is an attempt to clarify some of that ridiculous ambiguity.
